How Do I Love Thee?

Hello family and Friends!
What a week!

So this week Bambam was baptized and confirmed a member of the church!
It was sucha joyous and tender day for this little 9 year old.
I was on exchanges with Sister Tulagan, a new sister missionary to the field and together we shared a lesson to bam before her baptism.
She was so afraid of being baptized because she was afraid she would drown in the water. haha. little children and their imagination.
But it was a tender moment to reassure her that she'd be ok.
That she'd feel peace, happiness, and the joy from the spirit.
With some tears in her eyes, she accepted the invitation to be brave and trust in her heavenly father that she wouldnt drown.

It was super cute once she actually got in the water with Elder Rupp (the baptizer) she seemed so calm, and then she said in her testimony how grateful she was for the teachings of the gospel in her life and is excited to be a member just like her two older sisters.
Even though her parents arent members, im amazed at the strength their children have to take a stand and do what's right.
After the service, she bore her testimony and gratitude for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
She was literally glowing.
I sure loved being apart of her special day.

What else......
Oh! I def recommend reading Jeffrey Holland's talk "How do I love thee"
Have a great week everyone!
Love

The Good Stuff

Hello Family and Friends!
Sorry I have no time to write this week but I’ll try to fill ya’ll in on the good stuff.
What a week! So after the Elder Nelson event, Sister Surigoa and I went straight back to work.
Then we went back to Legazpi for Sister Surigao’s english test and then back to Masbate.
It was quite the week with traveling and seeing missionaries.
Our investigator BamBam (9 years old) also passed her baptismal interview! She’s such a sweet little girl and is excited to follow her Savior’s example, just like her two older sisters.
One of our investigators couldn’t come to church because she got attacked by a snake and so now everytime we go to her place I'm only slighly terrified.
My grandpa sent me a quote by Thomas S. Monson that I really liked.
He said "Remember that this is the Lords work, and when we are on the Lords errand, we are entitled to the Lords help. The Lord will shape the back to bear the burden placed upon it."
I'm so grateful for this opportunity and learn and grow and do what I can to help others come unto Christ.
Have a great week all!
Love,
Sister Delgado

I Believe in Christ. So come what may.‏

Hello Fam and Friends.
FIRST OF ALL.
Happy Birthday to my one and only Papa Minson.
He has helped me through so much of my life.
As I remember my high school days, papa would always support my sporting events, go to every volleyball, waterpolo, and swim event , took millions of photos, and always provided us with food. Also with my photography passion, he’s never failed to support me in accomplishing whatever task I was sent to do. Especially when it came to yearbook and my senior graduation speech. Too many instances that I don’t deserve, where papa minson stepped in and saved the day.
My personal walking gospel library, counselor, and everything that a child needs.
He’s my tangible comforter and supporter that I know was heaven sent.
Its no wonder he was born on valentines day. Hope you had the best birthday ever paps!

SO this week has just been a thrill.
I’ll focus on yesterday’s event.
I got to meet President Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
It was such a surreal experience.
I got to shake his hands, look into his blue eyes, and feel of the Savior’s love through him.
He and his wife, Elder and Sister Ardern (area presidency) accompanied them and spoke to us as well.
So many wonderful things were spoken about and I have no time to tell it all, but my favorite was when Elder Nelson spoke about missionary work and missionaries in DC 31.
Although I’ve read this promise many times during my mission, but when he read DC 31:5 "Therefore, thrust in your sickle with all your soul, and your sins are forgiven you, and you shall be laden withsheaves upon your back, for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Wherefore, your family shall live."
I relate a time President Guanzon quoted this exact scripture to me during a tragic time for me a year ago, and as I obeyed his counsil, I felt the spirit of the lord greatly.

And as President Nelson elaborated on this promise, the holy ghost touched my heart.
I felt soften, healed.
I felt the presence of our Savior.
I pictured His atonement and was reminded with the greatest assurance of my entire mission that if there’s anyone who knows us individually, felt what we feel everyday, its Him.
I can't even begin to describe the feeling of standing before an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ and recieve the love given us by the Savior.
I felt the savior's mercy and strength when Elder Nelson testified that us missionaries right now were saved, chosen to serve the Lord's children here in the Philippines.
That we were forordained.
That the people we find and baptize here on the field, knew and loved then as well.
I completely believe that.
I instantly thought of the Legazpi and Gubat saints as he said that.
Especially the Gonzales family and Fred

The reminder of the Lord's plan and love for each of his children filled my soul with peace.

I know that no matter what happens in life, The savior's atonement will never change and forever heal those who are wounded.
I believe in that promise, and the holy ghost affirms it.

I believe in Christ.
So come what may.

Love,
Sister Delgado

The Power of Prayer

Hello all!
So this week has been cool.
We had our MLC last week on Tuesday in Legazpi, then went straight back from the mainland to the boat, then got back from the roro around 2 am.
I guess that’s the island life here. Haha. Its interesting.
Then after that, straight to work and zone training!
Zone training was pretty cool because Sister Surigao and I got to do a workshop on prayer.
I really loved learning about prayer at MLC from President.
He really emphasized the importance of listening to the Lord right after praying and pondering. I really love Alma 37:36-37 scripture
36 Yea, and cry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thy doings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever thou goest let it be in the Lord; yea, let all thy thoughts be directed unto the Lord; yea, let the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever.
37 Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day.
I think of the importance of prayer and the importance of doing it with real intent.
Here on my mission, my prayers have become so much more meaningful because I’ve never needed the lord’s help and comfort more here than in my entire life.
I’ve realized that I am absolutely nothing without him, and even more so here on the mission field.
The Lord knows how to guide us enough to make the right decisions.
And often I’ve learned that he allows us to make the wrong decisions (especially if we are persistent) so that we will know for ourselves exactly why we shouldn’t have made those decisions, and should choose a different path.
Im grateful for the power of prayer. From the moment I open my eyes after a prayer, I instantly feel stronger.
The work here in Masbate is really progressing and the members in the branch who work with us are so sweet.
Normally its just youth who work with us, not many of the adults are willing to work with us.
Its ok, we just work with what is given with us.
It’s so weird to think that I was in a ward for most of my mission in Legazpi. Haha there are  very few wards in my mission, so I was super blessed to be there for as long as I was.
As far as mine and sister Surigao’s work is concerned, the teaching pool here is very well established by past missionaries.
The houses are super close to one another and there are plenty of teaching opportunities.
We have two progressing investigators that we are hoping will be baptized this transfer.
One is a part memberish family, Bambam who is 9 years old, and Carmen who is 30.
Its really hard for Carmen to come to church because their home is quite the hike to the church and she has 3 disabled little children. Her husband is also always out, so it’s a struggle for her.
We’re praying for her, and striving to find more families.
Well, that’s about it!
I'm excited to see Elder Nelson next week and for the week’s adventures.
love,
Sister Delgado
